Joe DiMaggio, often nicknamed “Joltin’ Joe” or “The Yankee Clipper,” was an iconic American baseball player known for his achievements in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a center fielder for the New York Yankees. Born on November 25, 1914, in Martinez, California, DiMaggio played his entire 13-year career in baseball with the Yankees, from 1936 to 1951.

He is perhaps best known for his 56-game hitting streak in 1941, a record that still stands and is considered one of the greatest achievements in the history of the sport. DiMaggio was a three-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) and was selected to the All-Star team in every season he played. His career was temporarily interrupted by military service during World War II, from 1943 to 1945.

Apart from his sports career, DiMaggio was also famous for his marriage to Marilyn Monroe, adding to his celebrity status beyond baseball. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955 and remained a revered figure in baseball until his death on March 8, 1999.
